About Nishtar Medical University and Hospital Multan
Pakistan’s Nishtar Medical University is a public health sciences institution in Multan, Punjab. It was one of the first medical establishments established after Pakistan was established. It offers nursing, allied health sciences, and medicine degree programs.
Nishtar Medical University’s Multan, Pakistan, teaching hospital is Nishtar Hospital. The Government of Punjab owns this tertiary care hospital. It serves an enormous populace of South Punjab.
On October 1, 1953, with 80 beds, it began operations. Medical clinic’s complete bed limit presently remains at 1,800 which is one of the biggest in the country. In addition to 15 operating rooms, the hospital now has 24 departments and divisions, 31 wards, a burn unit, an outpatient department, and an A&E department.
As a result, Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar, the Governor of Punjab at the time, made the historic announcement that a modern medical college and hospital would be built in Multan. Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar laid the college’s foundation stone on April 28, 1951. In 1953, work began on the Nishtar Hospital block. On first of October, 1953, Nishtar Medical clinic began working with 80 beds. On October 1, 1951, the then-commissioner, Mr., presided over the inaugural ceremony.
The Pakistan Medical Commission and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan recognize the university for its undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Nishtar Medical University is also on the Pakistani Higher Education Commission’s list of recognized universities.
